Mark started his career in Real Estate at AEW Capital Management in 1990 after 5 years in the investment services and real estate audit group at KPMG. Mark spent 15 years with AEW Capital Management, one of the largest private equity real estate firms in the world based in their Boston, MA office.  He handled a wide range of responsibilities over his career at AEW including asset management, distressed loan acquisitions, debt financing and equity investment acquisitions throughout the US in all real estate sectors.  Mark was appointed a Partner in the AEW Partners Group for the last five years of his tenure at the firm and was involved in their opportunistic real estate investments throughout the US and Western Europe. 

 

In 2025, Mark Co-founded Alcion Real Estate Ventures with the initial backing of Harvard University's Endowment.  Alcion raised four separate co-mingled closed end funds totaling capital commitments of more than $1.5 Billion. Institutional investors included Endowments, Public Pension Funds, and High Net Worth investors. Alcion's investment strategy included high yield investments in seven major 24/7 cities in the US. Mark's responsibilities included implementing the investment strategy in these cities with joint venture operating partners. Investments included office, residential, retail, and industrial properties.  

 

In 2024, Mark and Ben founded Brighton Real Estate Ventures to pursue new investment opportunities and structure joint venture partnerships aligned with their strategic real estate vision. Today, Mark works closely with Ben to identify and execute new real estate investments consistent with their core strategy, while raising additional capital to grow their RV resort platform throughout the Southeast and expand their small-bay warehouse and mixed-use investment strategies.
